When trained by the Date Clan, Naginata Samurai have +2 charge bonus. Naginata Samurai are best countered by anti-infantry troops, such as katana samurai, matchlock equipped units, as these weapons ignore armor. They perform similarly to naginata warrior monks, but have much better armor and more men per regiment at the cost of poorer melee skills.

This is also its main difference from most other major mods, in that, whilst all of the mods are fully compatible with each other, they are not in a single pack, and must all be individually installed. However, they are still versatile troops offensively, able to take on almost all types of cavalry and win, and doing well against most infantry. The Radious Total War Mods are a series of mods by Radious, each of which changes the gameplay of Total War: Shogun 2 in a different way. They pay for this with a lack of specialization. Offensively, they are a compromise between yari samurai and katana samurai, with a smaller anti-cavalry bonus than the former and a weaker anti-infantry capability than the latter, but with no glaring weaknesses to speak of. Naginata Samurai have the highest armor value of all non-special infantry, making them an excellent choice for tanking enemy arrows.

Like all samurai, these warriors have trained hard to achieve full mastery of their chosen weapon and excel when fighting enemy cavalry and infantry. Its length and flexibility of use make it a great melee weapon. The naginata is a long staff with a curved blade fixed to the end.
While the first game was more complex and had more parts to accomplish, Shogun 2 has only one directive. Polearms have a very effective reach in melee fighting.
